Be Good Be Social Edinburgh – everything you need to know

1. It’s on Thu 3rd Nov 6-9pm GMT at the University of Edinburgh University Informatics Forum. That’s the main Forum building not the smaller InSpace venue.

2. Those of you washing your hair that night can join us online for the video livestream of the speakers/workshops and right good natter via the #begoodbesocial hashtag.

3. You can get all Foursquare on the night, Conrad from Shelter Scotland will be speaking about it after all. Here’s how…

Before the Event:
Want to earn your first – hard to get badge on Foursquare? Download and register on Foursquare using either the web via www.foursquare.com or on your smartphone through the free to download app.

Link your Facebook and Twitter pages (either or both) to Foursquare so that others can see what you’re up to. Don’t worry you don’t need to share every check in with the world, just the ones you want!

Upload a picture to your profile so that you can unlock badges.

On the night:

Check in to the Informatics Forum and if we hit 50 check-in’s we can all unlock the Swarm badge! Prizes on the night for the most badges collected and your badge knowledge!

Don’t forget to download the free foursquare app on your smartphone if you want to take part on the night.

PS: Massive thanks to Conrad for writing the instructions!

4. There’s a good solid 3G signal in the building but for those of you who need WiFi the lovely Alex Robertson will be able to sort you out – he’ll be at the front desk immediately after you’ve given your name. We need to pay for each person’s access to the WiFi and you need to sign the University’s disclaimer for usage. We have to stick to the Uni’s rules on this one – a small price to pay for an amazing venue.

5. I shouldn’t have to tell you but we’ll be hearing from Ed Henderson, Conrad Rossouw and Lesley Pinder on the night. You’ll struggle to find a more inspiring line-up this year if you ask me!

6. Tweeting and taking photos & video throughout the night is thoroughly encouraged. Just remember to use the hashtag – #BeGoodBeSocial

7. If you can no longer make it please let us know and we’ll allocate your ticket to someone on the waiting list.

8. We’re sponsored by Blackbaud Europe, Big Lottery Fund Scotland and Third Sector Lab. Their money and input ensure the events are free to third sector organisations.

9. The event is volunteer-run so if you see a member of the Be Good Be Social sounding board or an on the night volunteer give them a big high five.

10.  We’re all heading over to The Peartree pub nearby for drinks afterwards. Hopefully see you there.
